YORK, Neb. (SCWarriors.com) – The Sterling men went wire-to-wire Saturday afternoon in their 79-70 win over the York University Panthers. Early on the Warriors took a double-digit lead and kept it there for most of the game. They took a 41-31 lead into the locker room. York went on a run late in the second half and cut the lead to seven, but Sterling built their lead back up, and the win was not really in question.

Sterling shot just below 43% from the field and was 11-27 from three point range. Sterling really made a difference at the free throw line missing just one in the game going 14-15 for 93%. York shot just 58% from the line. Damond Daniels and Jayden Garrison finished with 25 and 22 points respectively. Their stat lines were identical, both shooting 8-15 from the field, and 5-10 from three point range. The only difference was Daniel’s 4-4 at the free throw line compared to Garrison’s 1-1. Elijah Herron had another good all-around game just missing a double-double with 10 points and 9 rebounds, and a team-leading, 2 blocks.

Sterling plays at home on Wednesday evening at 8 pm against Bethany College. It will be the KCAC home opener where they will look to start the season 2-0 in conference play. They are currently 6-1 this season after the win Saturday.
