LINDSBORG, Kan. (SCWarriors.com) – The Warriors faced off with the Bethany Swedes for tonight’s match-up. By the end of the night, the Warriors walked away with a win on the Swedes’ field. Coming home with a final score of 3-1, making their conference record 1-0.
The first goal to start off the match was made by Cristian Monge assisted by Daniel Stone in just the 16th minute of play. After both teams made a few substitutions the second goal of the night was made by Marcus Toney of Bethany scored on the Sterling goalie assisted by Sebastian Gonzalez Cerro. Bringing the game to a tie at the end of the 1st half.
When the 2nd half started, Sterling took off, scoring two goals within 15 minutes of each other, creating a two-goal lead. The first goal was made by Chimela Orji assisted by Lawm Sangzuala. Shortly following, Monge made his second goal of the night, assisted by Jonathan Torres.
With the Swedes unable to catch up during the 2nd half the Warriors finished the match 3-1. Sterling goalie Marcelo Fuentes had a save percentage of 66.67 during his 90 minutes on the Swedes’ home field. They also had a team shooting percentage of 30%.
Next up, the Warriors face Saint Mary at home following the women’s game as they continue their conference play.
