Volleyball Tigers Drop Two in SAC Opening Weekend

PLAINVIEW, Tex. (CCCTigers.com) – The Central Tigers Volleyball traveled west to open up their SAC portion of their season. The Tiger’s dropped both as they drop to 0-8 on the season and 0-2 in SAC play on Friday and Saturday.

On Friday, the Tigers traveled to Wayland Baptist, and dropped the match in straight sets 0-3. The Tigers started quickly scoring seven straight points in game one to take an early 10-7 lead, but Wayland responded with a run and eventually came out on top 25-19. Set two saw Wayland jump out with 6 straight points, and did not look back taking set 2 25-13. A back and forth battle in set three saw the Tigers come short 18-25. Amanda Dotter led the Tigers with eight kills. Valentina Bozatto from Wayland had an outstanding game with 24 assists. The Tigers drop to 0-1 in SAC play and 0-7 overall. Wayland moves to 2-3 overall and 2-0 in the SAC.

Saturday’s SAC battle brought the Tigers to Oklahoma Panhandle, where the Tigers dropped the game 1-3 in four sets. Set one had the Aggies lead throughout to take it 25-14. However, the Tigers responded well scoring the 1st four points, but the Aggies came back to take a one point lead before the Tigers scored 12 straight points all off the serving of Alysen Harris. The Tigers rolled to take the set 25-16. The aggies would take the match after winning the 3rd and 4th sets. Amanda Dotter again led the Tigers with 10 Kills, Alysen Harris served up 4 aces, while Zoe Smith led the tigers with 17 assists. The Tigers drop to 0-8 overall and 0-2 in SAC play, while The Aggies move to 4-6 overall and 2-0 in the SAC.

The Tigers (0-8) will continue SAC play next at home vs. Langston University (1-7), Tuesday at 6pm.
