LINDSBORG, Kan. (BethanySwedes.com) – Bethany College hosted the Kansas Wesleyan University Coyotes, Wednesday, October 30th, in a weekday matchup. The Swedes fell short and the Coyotes got the sweep.
Set 1: Rough start for the Swedes as they quickly fell into a five-point deficient, 0-5, right out of the gate. Bethany tried to chip away at the lead but the Coyotes maintained control and finished the set, 16-25.
Set 2: The second set would be the most promising look for the Swedes as they kept Kansas Wesleyan from only gaining a two to three-point lead over them. The Swedes even tied up the set at 18-18 after going on a five-point run and took the lead at 19-18 before the Coyotes were able to side-out. Unfortunately, the Swedes were able to hang on and Kansas Wesleyan would go on to take the second set, 20-25.
Set 3: The final set of the night got started much like the first set with the Swedes starting at a disadvantage after the Coyotes went on a six-point run, 1-7. Bethany went to work and managed to cut the deficient down to two at 13-15, but Kansas Wesleyan was able to shift momentum back into their favor. The Coyotes extended their lead once again and finished the set at 18-25.
Notable stats from this game include 11 kills by Autry Satica, 4 blocks by Antonette Carochi, 19 digs by Michelle Acevedo Ortiz, 1 service ace and 17 assists by Katie Voss.
Up next, the Swedes are hosting the Friends University Falcons, Saturday, Novemeber 2nd starting at 12pm for JV and 2pm for varsity. The Swedes will also be celebrating Senior Night as well as a Blue Out for fans and family.
