SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (BethanySwedes.com) – The Bethany College Women’s Volleyball Team took an overnight trip to Springfield, Mo. to take on the Evangel University Valor in the Swedes’ second conference matchup.
Set 1
The Swedes gave up the opening point, but quickly tied it with a kill from Autry Satica. Evangel would score again, but Bethany would rattle off three points in a row to take a 4-2 lead. Unfortunately, Evangel would even it up and never look back taking the set 25-18.
Set 2
The Swedes would strike first to take an early 1-0 lead, but the Valor would take the next four points; three by way of attacking errors on the Swedes. Attack errors would spurn the Swedes as they would lose the set 25-10.
Set 3
The third set was unforgiving as Bethany would find themselves down 6-0 before Coach Tharps would call a timeout to help her team focus in. Satica would get the Swedes on the board, but points would remain hard to come by as Evangel would take the set 25-12 and the match 3-0.
Notable stats from this game include eight kills by Autry Satica, two blocks by Chloe Linville, and a service ace by Kylah Cortez.
Up next, the Swedes get a bit of a break between games as the next time they are in action will be homecoming weekend. Bethany will face Coach Tharps’ alma mater, the Ottawa University Braves. First serve is scheduled for 6:00 PM on Saturday, October 5.
