LIBERAL, Kan. (BlueDragonSports.com) – Led by a career high in kills from Atlyn Proctor and a career-high attack percentage from Tiana Simmons, the Hutchinson Community College volleyball team earned its first Jayhawk Conference victory of 2024 on Wednesday at Seward County.
Playing the 10th of a season-opening 16-match road trip, the Blue Dragons defeated the Saints 25-21, 25-18, 25-18 to even their KJCCC record at 1-1. Now 6-4 overall, the Blue Dragons play No. 15 Odessa at 6 p.m. Thursday in the OC Invitational at Odessa, Texas. The Dragons will then play No. 14 New Mexico Junior College and Vernon on Friday and Panola on Saturday.
Proctor led the Blue Dragons against Seward County with a match-high 18 kills on 35 attacks for a season-high .343 attack percentage. Proctor also had two total blocks.
Simmons had 12 kills on 14 attacks. Her .857 attack percentage is the fourth-highest attack percentage in Blue Dragon single match history for all matches and in three-set matches. Simmons also had four total blocks, including one solo block.
Freshman Viktoria Graf had 11 kills on .194 hitting. She added six digs and four service aces.
Freshman setter Ellie Suber led the Dragons with 21 assists while sophomore Shelbi Wilson added 18 assists.
Freshman libero Addy Foster had a team-high 12 digs and three set assists. Freshman defensive specialist Siani Sanchez had five digs and one service ace.
