McPHERSON, Kan. (MacBulldogs.com) — The McPherson College Bulldogs completed the weekend sweep Saturday (Oct. 12), knocking off (RV) Lindsey Wilson College to wrap up the MBU Classic in St. Louis, Mo.
Lindsey Wilson raced out to a 7-3 lead fueled by a trio of service aces, but MC stormed back, scoring six of the next eight points to level the score at 9-9. The momentum continued to swing, this time in favor of the Blue Raiders, who went on a 5-0 burst to force a Bulldog timeout.
The Bulldogs battled back to grab the 25-23 set win, capped off by a kill by Hadley Waldren, who finished with nine for the match.
MC carried that momentum into the second set, using a .296 attacking percentage to build a huge lead before cruising to a 25-16 win.
In the third set, the Blue Raiders seemed to be on a path to extend the match after jumping out to a 23-19, but the Bulldogs closed on a 6-1 run to complete the sweep.
The Bulldogs, winners of six straight matches, were led by Enya Fierens with 11 kills, while Raegan Murphy finished with a team-high 22 assists.
MC will have a quick turnaround as they travel to Winfield, Kan. to take on Southwestern College Monday (Oct. 14), starting at 7:30 p.m.
