Volleyball Bulldogs Sweep Doane


CRETE, Neb. ( — The McPherson College Bulldogs ran their winning streak to three-games following a 3-0 sweep over the Doane University Tigers in Crete, Neb. MC has won six of its last seven contests.


The Bulldogs (8-3) hit .258 as a team, led by Enya Fierens (.571) and Zoe Fernandez (.500).

Doane held a 13-10 lead in the opening set, but three straight kills by Fernandez, Fierens, and Katelyn Moore leveled the score. The Bulldogs mounted a three-point lead before a kill by Fernandez put them on top 25-22.

In the second set it was the Bulldogs who grabbed an early lead then cruised to a 25-14 win to lead 2-0 for the overall match.

The Tigers showed signs of life in the third set, taking an 11-7 lead, but eight straight points that included three straight service aces by Moriah Delgado, gave the Bulldogs a lead they would never relinquish.

Fernandez paced the Bulldogs with 12 kills, while Fierens added 10 kills. Cynarah Rodriguez finished with 40 assists, while Kenzie Cooper led the way defensively with 19 digs.

The Bulldogs open conference play Wednesday (Sep. 20) as they travel to Salina, Kan., to take on Kansas Wesleyan. MC will return home Friday and Saturday against Briar Cliff and Oklahoma Wesleyan, respectively.
