McPHERSON, Kan. (MacBulldogs.com) — The McPherson College Bulldogs got back in the win column Wednesday (Sep. 25) with a 3-1 victory over the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes inside the Sport Center in McPherson.
A 7-3 deficit in the opening set was quickly erased by the Bulldogs, scoring 12 of the next 14 points thanks to a balanced offensive attack by Enya Fierens, Hadley Waldren, Daniela Jimenez, and Brooke McHale. The Coyotes pulled within 17-14, but MC rallied to take a 1-0 lead.
The Bulldogs carried that momentum into the second set, scoring six of the first eight points. But the Coyotes battled back, and used a 7-0 burst to grab a 14-11 advantage midway through the frame.
MC’s offense again awakened with their own run, this one a 9-3 spurt that included four kills by Katie Warden to grab control. The Bulldogs finished off the second game 25-20.
In the third set, the Coyotes grabbed a quick lead before cruising to a 25-19 win, but the Bulldogs answered with a 25-18 win in the fourth set to pick up their first KCAC win of the season.
Luisina Sandrone, Warden, and McHale each finished with 10 kills apiece, while Fierens and Jimenez added nine kills each.
The Bulldogs are back on the hardwood Friday (Sep. 27) for a midday showdown with (RV) Nelson University. The action will begin at 1:00 p.m.
