HILLSBORO, Kan. (MacBulldogs.com) – The No. 17-ranked McPherson College Bulldogs traveled to Hillsboro Wednesday (Nov. 6) and swept the Tabor College Bluejays to push their winning streak to 14 consecutive matches, the longest since 2018.
The Bulldogs (25-5, 11-1 KCAC) finished with an attacking percentage of .273 to pick up their 18th sweep of the season. MC also used a balanced offensive attack with Daniela Jimenez and Brooke McHale leading the way with eight kills apiece, while Enya Fierens added seven kills and Hadley Waldren finished with six. Katelynn Brogan finished with a team-best 18 assists and Raegan Murphy added 12 assists.
With the first set tied 5-5, the Bulldogs rattled off nine of the next 11 points thanks to kills by Fierens and McHale and a service ace by Kenzie Cooper. From there, MC cruised to a 25-14 set win.
In the second set, the Bulldogs jumped out to a 14-10 lead behind a quick 7-2 burst, but four straight points by the Bluejays, including a solo block by Brindelyn Schneider leveled the score. But again, the Bulldogs flexed their muscles when a kill by Jimenez sparked a 6-1 spurt that put MC on top 22-16. Fierens finished it off in set two.
The Bulldogs raced out to a 10-2 edge early in the third set then used several large runs to complete the sweep with a 25-12 win.
Liana McGonigle paced Tabor with 11 kills. The Bluejays were held to a .000 attacking percentage.
