NORTH NEWTON, Kan. (MacBulldogs.com) – The McPherson College Bulldogs traveled to North Newton Wednesday (Oct. 4) to take on the Bethel College Threshers, but fell 3-1, snapping a three-game winning streak.
The Threshers hit .414 in the opening set with 14 kills and just two errors. Bethel got off to a hot start, jumping out to an 8-4 lead, but the Bulldogs responded with four straight points thanks to kills by Alex Pak and Hadley Waldren and a pair of aces by Katelyn Moore.
The teams traded points until the Threshers grabbed a 24-22 lead late in the game. Waldren leveled the score at 24-24, but Bethel won the next two points to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
Bethel again took an 8-4 edge in the second set, but this time the Bulldogs used 10 Thresher errors to win the set 25-18.
However, from there it was all Bethel, winning the next two games 25-16 and 25-20.
Waldren and Bridget McHugh each finished with 10 kills, while Pak added eight kills. Raegin Bromenshenkel paced the Bulldogs with 20 assists, while Jaden Polovina added 17 assists. Moriah Delgado led the team with 24 digs.
The Bulldogs return to the Sport Center Saturday (Oct. 7) for a showdown with Southwestern starting at 1:00 p.m.
