SET 1: The Blue Dragons got off to a great defensive start holding the Grizzlies to a minus-.150 hitting percentage in the opening set. A bit part of that was six team blocks. A Villanueva kill gave the Dragons an early 5-2 lead. Later leading by three, Reupena connected on a setter dump for a 10-6 lead. Leading 14-11, the Dragon block came to life. A double block by Villanueva and Galliher upped the Dragon lead to four. That sparked an 11-2 Hutchinson run that was capped by a Follmer/Reupena double block on set point for a 25-13 Dragon win.

SET 2: The second set had 18 ties and seven lead changes and offensively, both teams were much improved. West Plains hit .385 on 22 kills and Hutchinson hit .347 on 21 kills. Tied at 10, the Dragons took a two-point lead on back-to-back kills from Villanueva and Vazquez. A McKenzye Williamson service ace gave the Dragons an 18-15 lead. The Dragons had four set-point opportunities, but the Grizzlies scored the final two points to knot the match with a 29-27 win.

SET 3: Tied at 11-11 after a Villanueva kill, West Plains scored on 3 of the next 4 rallies to take the set lead. Hutchinson got another kill from Villanueva and a Grizzly attack error to tie the set at 14. West Plains then scored three points in a row to take the set lead for good. The Grizzlies hit .233 and held Hutchinson to .073 in the set and scored on 11 of the final 13 rallies of the set for a 25-16 win and a 3-1 match lead.

SET 4: Tied at 7-7, the Dragons took command of the set with a 10-3 run. A kill by McNeill capped the run and Hutchinson won 17-10. West Plains rallied with seven unanswered points to tie the set at 17. A Follmer kill stopped the run for an 18-17 Dragon lead. Then tied at 21, West Plains scored on 4 of the final 5 rallies to secure the win. For the match, there were 35 ties and 16 lead changes over the four sets.
