Victoria scored the first 16 points of the game, and then Central Plains scored the next 20 unanswered. Both teams each scored a touchdown in the final minute of the game, and the last team in the game to score was Victoria, who came out victorious tonight by the final score of 22-20.
Victoria running back Weston Scherrer scored the first two touchdowns in the first 5 minutes of the game, while teammate and quarterback Wyatt Schmidtberger scored the last one and game winner with just 27 seconds left in regulation.
Central Plains quarterback Brody Crites accounted for all three Oiler touchdowns, which all came through the air, and had a fourth down conversion when he threw a 45-yard strike down near the goal line that set up the final Central Plains touchdown on the night with 45 seconds left in the game.
Next up, Central Plains will travel to LaCrosse to take on the Leopards, and Victoria will host their home opener against the Osborne Bulldogs.Â
