McPHERSON, Kan. (CCCTigers.com) – After an emotional win over McPherson College on Tuesday night, the Tigers struggled to regroup in their Homecoming game against Mount Marty University. The Lancers forced the Tigers into 31 turnovers, which produced 34 points, and beat the Tigers 69-55 on Saturday Afternoon.
A slow start by the Tigers with 7 turnovers before their 1st basket, put them in the hole early down 12-0, on their way to 9 turnovers in the 1st quarter as they fell behind 23-10 at the end of 1. The story of the game outside of the slow start was the Lancers ability to force turnovers and capitalize those turnovers. Despite the Tigers defensively, where they were able to force 28 turnovers, they were only able to produce 17 points off the turnovers. The Lancers forced 31 turnovers and were able to produce 34 points, which was the difference of the game. The Tigers were able to get the lead under 10 multiple times throughout, but it wasn’t enough as they fell 69-55, and dropped to 2-2 on the year as the Lancers moved to 5-0 on the season.

Coach’s Comment:
“Tonight was not a good night. We definitely weren’t ready to play and that is all on me. I have to do a better job of having the ladies ready mentally and physically! I didn’t do that tonight! Coming off an emotional win, we can’t have downs if we want to keep getting better.”
-Coach Willems
The Tiger’s don’t have much time to recover as they head to Wichita Monday night to take on NCAA Division 2, Newman University. The game will tip off at 5:30pm at Fugate Gymnasium, and can be seen on the MIAA Network.
