Springfield, Mo. (SCWarriors.com) – It was a tough night for the Warrior basketball offense as they ended the night with an 82-60 loss to Evangel. Sterling shot just 36% from the field in the loss.
Sterling struggled to find offense in the first half Saturday night as they scored just 22 first half points. Twenty-two percent is what they shot in the first 20 minutes of play. It is tough to overcome a shooting performance like this on the road against a good team like Evangel, and Sterling trailed by 15 at the half.
Sterling tried to overcome the deficit as they shot 50% from the field in the second half, but it was too little too late as Evangel shot slightly better in the second half.
Mooch Austin led the way for Sterling with 15 points and added 4 assists. Ean Heise put in another good night as finished with 14 points, and Brandon Doss also scored in double-figures with 11 points and added 4 assists.
Sterling now looks to the final two games of the season. They host Oklahoma Wesleyan, the 4th ranked team in the country, on Wednesday, and finish the season on the road against Bethel College.
