Hutchinson, Kan. (CCCTigers.com) – The newly revamped Central Christian Cross Country team opened up their season at the Terry Masterson Twilight Classic hosted by Hutchinson Community College. The 14 team invitational saw 3 Tigers compete this early season showdown attended by several NJCAA, NAIA, and a NCAA Division 1 team, Wichita State.
The women started the evening with the duo of Chloe Clevenger (22:18), and Payton Rice (22:21), finishing 36h and 38th respectively. This was a particularly big race for Rice, who dropped 2 minutes from her time from her final High School season. Wichita State won the competition by placing their top 5 runners in the top 15.
Philip Soclo was the lone competitor in the men’s race finishing 79th in the 4 mile race with a time of 27:37. Butler Community College was the champion of the men’s race scoring 34 points, 30 points higher than runner up Hutchinson CC.
The Cross Country team competes next at the Fort Hays State Tiger Open, on Friday, September 13th. Races start with the women at 9:15am, followed by the men at 9:50am.
