Three-Point Specialist, Taylor Robertson joins Gisa Lions MBC

The most successful three-point shooter in the history of the NCAA, Taylor Robertson, will be playing for Gisa Lions MBC in the Toyota DBBL in the 2023-24 season. Robertson will go from the University of Oklahoma to Halle, Germany, where she signed a one-year contract.

This past season, she surpassed the five-year-old NCAA Division I record of Kelsey Mitchell (Ohio State University-497) with her 498th made three-point shot, and by the end of the season, she increased her tally to 537 three-pointers.

Her shooting percentage from beyond the three-point line was an outstanding 44 percent in her total of 151 college games.

Taylor Robertson’s record drew nationwide attention, as Stephen Curry, the most successful three-point shooter in NBA history, sent her his congratulations via video and invited her for a personal meeting before his Golden State Warriors’ game against the Oklahoma City Thunder in late January.

“Taylor is a hardworking player who embodies the spirit of the basketball court,” says Timur Topal, the head coach of Gisa Lions MBC. “We are happy that a player of her quality will start her professional career with us, and we appreciate the opportunity to accompany her in the next stage of her development.”

Taylor Robertson hails from the small town of McPherson (Kan.), where she also attended high school. In 2018, she signed to the University of Oklahoma, where she played and studied for five years instead of the usual four, due to the COVID-19 special rule.

She was selected as a All-Big 12 First Team in 2022 and was a Second Team All-Big 12 honoree in 2021 and 2023, in the competitive Big12 Conference. In her 151 college games, she averaged 15.5 points (with more than two-thirds of them coming from three-pointers), 3.6 rebounds, and 2.1 assists. In the WNBA Draft in April, she surprisingly went unnoticed by many experts, which cleared the way for Gisa Lions MBC to sign her. The schedule for the 2023-24 season has yet to be released.
