BUHLER, Kan. – Buhler flexed some tennis muscles during Friday’s Regional at the Buck Balzer Tennis Courts, sending three entries to the finals, and qualifying all four of its entries for this weekend’s State meet in Pratt. Buhler won the event, with McPherson finishing second and Clay Center third.

Defending 4A singles champion Davian Spies will return to State after dueling it out with teammate Amos Harder in Friday’s Regional final. Spies (20-4) won in straight sets, 6-6, 6-3. Harder also qualifies for State with a season record of 18-11.

On the doubles court, Brock Hilger and Von Woleslagel (18-12) battled their way to the finals, where they finished second to McPherson’s Alex Berger and Kayden McVicker. The opposing duos are likely to see each other again in Pratt. Eli Biggs and Meric Manns (13-13) also slid inside the top five and punched their ticket to the State tournament.

Softball

Buhler softball earned win number two on the season last Monday against Augusta. Lilly Horne drove in a pair of runs in a 9-7 win in game one of two. She also worked seven innings in the circle.
