Tate Engelland scored five goals Thursday, and the Hutchinson High boys soccer team capped off a good week with an 8-0 shellacking over Arkansas City at the Salthawk Sports Complex.

Engelland likewise capped off a strong week. He also scored the winning goal Monday on a long-range strike in a 3-2 win over Buhler.

The eight goals marked a season high, and it was the first win by mercy rule for the Salthawks, who improved to 4-5-1. The shutout was the first of the season, and showed continued improvement by the Salthawk defense. After allowing 18 goals in the first six games, Hutchinson has allowed four goals in the last four games, one of which came Tuesday in a 1-0 overtime loss to Valley Center.

Hutch will next play Tuesday at Maize South.
