Tabor’s Shewey Captures KCAC Field Athlete of the Week

HILLSBORO, Kan. (TaborBluejays.com) – After an outstanding weekend performance, senior high jump standout Vance Shewey has been named KCAC Field Athlete of the Week. Shewey earned the honor following his impressive showing at the Washburn Open in Topeka, Kan., where his performance caught the attention of the conference’s Sports Information Directors.

Shewey finished 2nd out of 14 teams, including several MIAA powerhouses like Washburn and Emporia State. His stellar performance this weekend also earned him an NAIA “A” standard qualification with a jump of 6-09.50.

He’s currently ranked seventh in the NAIA and will be focusing on recovery this week as he prepares for the KCAC Conference Championships in Omaha, Neb., on February 14-15.
