Tabor Men’s Basketball’s Baer Records Career Night Against Coyotes

HILLSBORO, Kan. (TaborBluejays.com) – Tabor Men’s Basketball returned home to host Kansas Wesleyan University on Saturday evening in the second meeting of the season between the two teams. The teams met for the first time this season back on Jan. 3rd in Salina, where the Coyotes won, 94-66.

The first half helped pave the way for a thrilling evening, with both teams going back and forth, trading buckets. Every time KWU tried to break away, the Bluejays kept battling back and keeping themselves in the game. With just over five minutes to go in the first half, Jackson Baer brought TC withing three points with a nice jumper. The Coyotes stretched their lead to 10 just before the buzzer sounded for the halftime break with the score reading 43-33.

Things went similarly in the second half, with both teams starting off the half trading buckets, The Bluejays brought themselves back within five with 10:09 to go. KWU then went on a run, going on to lead by as many as 19 before Tabor cut the lead, ultimately falling by 13, 87-74.

Jackson Baer poured in 25 points in a career outing while also adding one board and one steal. Kalep Crane and James Shoenfelt followed with 20 and 14 respectively. Crane led the team in rebounds and steals, recording eight boards and two steals.

The Bluejays return to action on Wednesday as Bethany College comes to town. Tipoff is scheduled for 8pm.
