Successful First Meet for Warrior OTF

WINFIELD, Kan. -bSterling College men’s and women’s track traveled to Winfield, Kan. for the Southwestern Jinx Invitational. Several personal bests were made during the event by Hannah SlateJacob BaumanCage Davison, and Maggie Griffiths.

Highlighting the meet from the women’s side was Hannah Slate finishing with a 1st and 2nd place finish in her two events. Slate finished first in the high jump with a height of 1.42 meters. Her second place finish was in the discus where she finished with a throw of 35.57 meters, which is a personal record for Slate.

On the men’s side, field events are where they excelled. Cage Davison finished 2nd in the long jump with a distance of 6.45 meters, also a personal record. Robert Stansbury finished 2nd in the shot put with a throw of 12.78 meters, and 4th in the discus with a throw of 31.53 meters. Jacob Bauman set personal records in his two events and finished with a throw of 34.05 meters in the discus, good enough for 3rd place, and threw a distance of 10.99 meters in the shot put, which earned him 6th place. Davison also ran to a sixth place finish in the 100 and eighth place in the 200.

Sterling’s next action is at Wichita State from April 6-8 for the KT Woodman College Classic.
