LINDSBORG, Kan. (MacBulldogs.com) — Collin Storr scored a career-high 30 points and grabbed 18 rebounds, including seven offensive boards to power the McPherson College Bulldogs’ to an 86-72 win Wednesday (Dec. 6) over Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kan. The win is the Bulldogs first in Lindsborg since January of 2017.
The Bulldogs (8-2, 3-2 KCAC) shot 49.2 percent from the field, their best showing since the Mayor’s Cup on Nov. 7. Additionally, MC went 8-for-19 from beyond the arc and finished 14-for-20 from the charity stripe.
Antonio Watson added 22 points for the Bulldogs, while Jamil Hardaway finished with 11 points and four rebounds. Storr was also effective on the defensive end, grabbing three of the team’s seven steals.
The Swedes came out with a lot of energy in the early going, jumping out to a 21-11 lead with 12 minutes to play in the opening half. MC quickly closed the gap, thanks to a trio of three-pointers by Watson to grab a 27-26 advantage with 6:04 left in the half. The score was tied 39-39 at the break.
From there, the Bulldogs never trailed again, scoring 11 of the first 14 points of the second half to lead 50-42 less than three minutes into the frame. The Bulldogs pushed their lead to 12 five minutes later.
The Swedes had one last push, using an 8-0 run to trim the lead to 64-60, but a three by Hardaway halted Bethany’s momentum.
Jamal Frenchwood paced the Swedes (2-6, 1-4 KCAC) with 27 points and 11 rebounds. Jelani Moreno added 17 points and four assists.
The Swedes shot 43.1 percent from the field, and finished 11-for-32 from deep.
The Bulldogs return to the Sport Center Saturday (Dec. 9) to take on Ottawa University. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
