Sterling’s Zane Farney Officially Signs to Play Football at Dordt University

Sterling High School senior Zane Farney, who helped the Black Bears to the Kansas Class 2A state football title in 2025, signed a letter of intent to play football at Dordt University, a Christian college located in Sioux Center, Iowa.

Farney, a 6-foot, 180-pound running back/wide receiver/cornerback, originally announced his intention on Dec, 26, 2025. He is the son of Greg and Heather Farney.

According to an article written by the Dordt sports information department posted on the team’s website, Farney plans to major in construction management and business administration.

Farney’s coach at Sterling High School was Brent Schneider.

Farney was the Kansas Class 2A Player of the Year in 2025. Farney rushed for 2,300 rushing yards in 2025. During his high school career, he rushed for more than 6,700 yards with more than 90 touchdowns.

He holds the school record for single-season rushing yards, career rushing yards and touchdowns.
