KANSAS CITY, Mo. (SCWarriors.com) – As the Director of Athletic Training at Sterling College (Kan.), Dr. Pete Manely has been a driving force in fostering positive change within the association.
In his role as the NAIA-Athletic Training Association President, Dr. Manely has participated in numerous NAIA councils and committees, including the National Advisory Council, Council of Student-Athletes, National Coordinating Committee, and the National Drug Testing Education Committee. Dr. Manely’s contributions to these groups have been crucial in developing and approving several key initiatives, such as the mandatory day off policy and the updated NAIA National Championship Medical Handbook.
“Pete Manely’s dedication and expertise has not only elevated the standards of care within our athletic training program here at Sterling College but also across the country,” said Sterling College Athletic Director, Justin Morris. “He continues to inspire countless students and colleagues to pursue being an athletic trainer. Winning the NAIA National Athletic Trainer of the Year Award is a testament to his unwavering commitment to excellence. Congratulations, Pete!”
Dr. Manely’s passion for athletic training and innate ability to spearhead meaningful change have cemented him as one of the leading athletic trainers in the NAIA.
” I am both humbled and honored to have received this award twice in my career,” said Manely. “The surprise announcement via Zoom, with my peers and NAIA representatives present, is a moment I will cherish forever. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the NAIA and the NAIA Athletic Trainers’ Association for this recognition. The NAIA ATA has been a committee where I’ve dedicated myself to growth, leadership, and upholding the legacy of the remarkable leaders who came before me. I must also acknowledge and express my gratitude to my incredible AT program staff and students, Sterling College for its mission and support, our outstanding athletic department, and my loving wife and family. I am committed to making them all proud.”
