Sterling, Kan. (SCWarriors.com) – The SC men’s soccer team opened the season at home against familiar foe, Central Christian College. Sterling found themselves in an early hole giving up the first goal of the year in the third minute. Ten more minutes passed before Central scored their second goal as they took a 2 to nil lead into halftime.
Another quick goal to start the second half put the Warriors down three goals before Ruben Guzman put the Sterling on the board. Guzman found the net, but the good look was helped by crisp passing by Floyd Ransom and Daniel Stone. Sterling ended up giving up two more goals before time expired an lost the opener 5-1.
Central Christian is a team they may meet in the postseason later on this year. Sterling heads to Waxahachie, Texas this weekend to take on Nelson University, formerly SAGU. Game time is at 6 pm, followed by the Lady Warriors as 8 pm.
