Softball Tigers Open 2025 in Louisiana

PINEVILLE, La. (CCCTigers.com) – The Central Christian College of Kansas Softball team traveled down to Louisiana to open their 2025 campaign. They would play 4 games across two different days.

Game 1, L 1-8
The Tigers started their season against LSU-Alexandria with Madalyn Griffin getting the start for the Tigers in the circle. LSUA tagged Griffin for 7 runs in the first two innings to jump out to a 7-0 lead early. The Tigers took advantage in the fourth inning and scored on a wild pitch to cut the deficit to 7-1. LSUA would tack on a run in the 6th to win the game 8-1.

Game 2, L 18-3
The second game of the day saw the Tigers face Texas A&M-Texarkana looking to bounce back from their loss earlier in the day. Sara Lynch was called upon to start and went 1 inning and surrendering 5 runs on 3 hits and 3 walks as the Eagles timely hitting saw them gain an 11-0 advantage after 2 innings. The Tiger bats woke up as Ashley Vaccaro hit a 2-rbi double followed by a Paige Major rbi single. Chelsie Hirtler would come on in relief and surrender 13 more runs across 3 innings as the run rule came into effect after 5 innings.

Game 3, L 1-6
Saturday started out with the Tigers taking on Louisiana Christian and attacking early with an Abby Schleisman rbi-single to take a 1-0 advantage. After LCU evened the score at 1-1, they extended their lead to 4-1 after 2 innings. LCU tagged the Tigers for 2 more runs in the 4th and would go on to win the game 6-1 handing the Tigers their third loss in three games on the young season.

Game 4, L 3-4
Still looking for their first win on the year, the Tigers faced the University of Houston-Victoria to cap off their Louisiana trip. The Tigers struck first with two runs across 4 innings highlighted by a homerun by Abby Schleisman. UHV would answer with 3 runs in the bottom of the 4th to take a 3-2 lead. The Tigers would knot the score back up after Paige Major knocked in a run with a single. Houston-Victoria would take the lead in the 5th to gain a 4-3 advantage and went on to win the game by this score.

The Tigers (0-4), turn their attention to the Collegiate Cup as they were set to take on McPherson College but due to weather, those games have been postponed. Stay tuned for announcements regarding schedule changes. Be sure to follow @ccckathletics on X for the latest updates.
