McPHERSON, Kan. (MacBulldogs.com) — The McPherson College Bulldogs opened the home portion of their schedule Thursday (Feb. 22), but fell twice to the Doane University Tigers at Bulldog Park.
GAME ONE – DU 2, MC 0
The Bulldogs had plenty of baserunners, stranding 13 baserunners. MC had seven hits, and benefitted from a pair of errors by the Tigers.
Doane got on the board in the third inning after Katelyn Hays reached on an error before coming around to score on an Isabella Beauchamp single. The Tigers added one more in the fourth when Britney Hoffman scored on a single by Hays.
Jordyn Johnson got the call in the circle for the Bulldogs in the opener, and struck out seven batters in seven innings of work. Rowdy New finished 2-for-4 at the plate in the first game.
GAME TWO – DU 5, MC 2
MC grabbed an early lead in the first inning of the nightcap, after an RBI single up the middle by New brought Karisa Hernandez home to score. However, the Tigers answered with a run of their own in the next half inning.
New walked in the third, before an infield double by Alyvia Quintana drove New in to level give the Bulldogs a 2-1 lead once again.
But from there, the Tigers tacked on two more in the fifth to take the lead for good, before adding another pair in the top of the seventh.
New went 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored. Quintana, Alexandrea Garcia, Tatyana Alvarado and Andrea Solis each added one hit.
Samantha Hollingsworth threw seven innings, allowing five runs on 11 hits.
The Bulldogs hit the road Saturday (Feb. 24) to take on Kansas Christian College in Overland Park, Kan. First pitch is slated for 2:00 p.m.
