BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Postseason basketball is coming back to Wichita State, as the Shockers earned a bid to the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) and will host Wyoming in a first round matchup at Charles Koch Arena on Tuesday, March 17 at 6 p.m. on ESPNU.
Wichita State (22-11) will be a No. 3 seed in the 32-team field with the winner to face either No. 2 seed Oklahoma State or Davidson. Wichita State last hosted an NIT game in 2011 when the Shockers rattled off five wins to win the NIT championship.
The Shockers are making their second straight appearance in the NIT and 15th in program history. Wichita State is 11-13 all time in the NIT with a 2011 championship. Out of the Mountain West Conference, Wyoming is 18-14 this season. Wichita State is 10-3 all time vs. the Cowboys with the most recent matchup coming in 2007.
First round play is scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, March 17 and 18, with the second round playing March 21 and 22. Quarterfinals will be held March 24 and 25 with four teams advancing to historic Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis for the semifinals. The NIT semifinals will kick off the Final Four weekend on April 2 with tipoffs at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. ET. The NIT championship will be played April 5 at 8 p.m. ET at Gainbridge Fieldhouse following the conclusion of the Division II and Division III Men’s Basketball National Championships.
Season Ticket holders will have the opportunity to purchase their seat locations from 2025-26 season, and the deadline to do so will be Monday, March 16th at 3:00 PM. Tickets will be made available via mobile, but can be printed upon request starting Tuesday, March 17th at 9:00 AM. Single game tickets are on sale now.
