Seven Swedes Earn All-KCAC Honors

WICHITA, Kan. ( – The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) is pleased to announce the 2023 KCAC Softball all-conference teams and individual award winners. Student-athletes were selected for all awards by a vote of the KCAC head softball coaches.

7 different Swedes took home honors; some in multiple categories.

Lilliana Martinez took home Player of the Year honors and was also named to the All-KCAC First Team as an outfielder and All-KCAC Second Team as a pitcher and utility player. Martinez led the KCAC in home runs (16), total bases (112), and slugging percentage during conference play (.928). Lilliana was also top-5 in multiple categories including runs batted in (2nd), walks drawn (3rd), batting average (5th), and shutouts during conference play (3rd).

Myranda Jimenez took home gold glove honors at first base and honorable mention as a first baseman. Jimenez tallied 133 putouts and 7 assists in 141 total chances during conference play for a fielding percentage of .993. Myranda ended the regular season with a .325 batting average, 6 doubles, and 2 triples which was good for 4th most during conference play.

Sasha Martello took home a gold glove award as a pitcher and also earned honorable mention honors as a pitcher. Martello, as a batter, maintained a batting average of .327, but held opponents to a .280 average. Sasha averaged 6.69 strikeouts per game (6th) during conference play. Martello also converted all 36 defensive chances with 24 putouts and 12 assists.

Kierstyn McMillen took home honorable mention honors as an outfielder. McMillen was top-5 in the KCAC in triples hit (4th), stolen bases (4th), and total plate appearances (4th) during conference play.

Melinda Cratty took home honorable mention honors as a shortstop. Cratty maintained a batting average of .346. Melinda drew 21 total walks during the regular season, good for 8th most in the KCAC.

Amaris Guerra took home honorable mention honors as an outfielder. Guerra maintained a batting average of .384, hit 12 doubles, and 6 sacrifice hits to help teammates advance and/or score. Amaris also drew 12 walks during conference play, good for 6th most in the KCAC.

Cambree Aguirre took home honorable mention honors as a relief pitcher. Aguirre earned 6 wins on the year and averaged 5.83 strikeouts per game, good for 10th best in the KCAC.
