WICHITA, Kan. – Karsen Schultz of No. 22 Sterling College and Taylor Jackson of Friends University have earned the KCAC Women’s Basketball Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors, respectively, the conference office announced Monday. The two student-athletes were selected for their performances from Jan. 9-15 by a vote of conference sports information directors. All KCAC Player of the Week honors are presented by Equity Bank.

Offensive Player of the Week

Karsen Schultz – #22 Sterling College

5-10 | Sr. | G | Alma, Kan.

Schultz was the driving force in Sterling’s pair of 90-point games, both of which resulted in wins. Karsen scored 20+ points in both games, separating herself as the leading scorer in the KCAC (17.8 ppg). She also was a rebound shy of having two double-doubles this week. She was efficient in her scoring opportunities, shooting almost 52% from the field and 93% from the free-throw line. This is the third time this season Schultz has been named the KCAC Women’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week.

Defensive Player of the Week

Taylor Jackson – Friends University

6-3 | So. | F | Houston, Texas

Jackson was once again a major deterrent inside for the Friends University Falcons. Jackson averaged nine defensive rebounds along with a whopping 7.5 blocks in two outings this past week. Jackson had 12 defensive rebounds and seven blocks to fuel a victory over McPherson College last Wednesday night (Jan. 11) before swatting eight more shots (just one shy of her career-high) along with six more defensive boards against Bethany. Jackson is tops in both the NAIA and KCAC with 3.4 blocks per game and is second in the league in defensive rebounding (6.4 rebounds per game). This is the third consecutive week in which Jackson has been named the KCAC Women’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week, and it is the fifth time overall this season that she has earned this honor.
