LINDSBORG, Kan. (SCWarriors.com) – The SC Tennis teams found some success at the KCAC Fall Championships over the weekend, but there is still room for improvement. The Fall Championships are not measured as a team, but individually. Each player is competing against a group of 8 to 13 players looking to win their respective bracket.
Newcomer, Adam King, on the men’s side was able to come away with an unexpected victory in #3 singles. King was the #9 seed to start the tournament and defeated the #1 seed and #3 seed in the bracket on his way to his individual championship. It is unlikely that King will slide under the radar the rest of the fall season and into the spring season. Just missing out on podium finishes were Rubem Bogomoltz and Marko Djukic who finished fourth in #5 and #6 singles, respectively. All three of these players are new to the SC Tennis program this fall.
The women found success in pairs. The highest finish for the Lady Warriors was a 1st place finish by the duo of Brooklynn Kuhn and Camila Castro Medina in #3 doubles. The pair were seeded fifth and beat #4 in the quarterfinals, dominantly took out the #1 seed in the semis 8-2, before defeating the tenth seed 8-2 in the finals. Kuhn found success in #5 singles as well finishing as runner up in her championship bracket. Newcomer, Greta Fankhauser took 3rd place in #6 singles as the fourth overall seed.
