Salthawks End Regular Season with Big Win at Andover

ANDOVER, Kan. – The Hutchinson Salthawks finished the regular season with their fourth straight win, 34-8 on Friday in Andover.

The Salthawks finish the regular season 6-2 and earned the No. 5 seed in the Class 5A West playoffs.

The Salthawks defense again was dominant, holding Andover to just eight first downs and 176 yards. Hutchinson countered with 293 yards of offense, including 280 on the ground.

Kade Smith led the way on the ground for Hutchinson with 108 yards and two touchdowns, both coming in the first quarter, measuring 8 and 39 yards. The Salthawks added single touchdowns in the final three quarters, coming from Devon Spiller, Robert Hunter and Zion Burgess.

Andover didn’t score until the final minute of the game. The Trojans also had 97  of their 176 yards on that drive.

Hutchinson will play at home in the first round of the playoffs Friday against Wichita West. The winner will play the winner between Maize South and Bishop Carroll.
