Two Hutchinson HIgh track and field athletes won events at the Newton Invitational on April 10.
On the boys side Camrynn Harris won the 200 meters in a time of 22.4 seconds. Harris also came in second in the 100.
On the girls side, KeiRre Martinez won the long jump with a leap of 17 feet, 11 inches.
Daniel Boone also came in second in the long jump on the boys side (21-7), while Avery Tecklenburg had a pair of runner-up finishes for the girls, in the 800 (2:36.35) and 1,600 (5:47.21).
Girls swimming – The Salthawks came in fourth place on Tuesday at a meet in Newton, scoring 157 points.
Two Salthawks came in second place at the meet. In the 100-yard butterfly, Alayna Wiggins came in second place, in a state-qualifying time of 1 minute, 6.79 seconds.
AJ Gooch also finished second in the 100 backstroke, also in a state-qualifying time, of 1:14.29.
Boys golf – The Salthawks finished seventh in the 15-team field at the McPherson Invitational on April 10.
Hutchinson finished with a 355. Mitchell Rice led the way by tying for third place with a 77.
The Salthawks return to action Thursday at Newton.
Girls soccer – The Salthawks gave one of the top teams in Class 5A – Goddard-Eisenhower – a battle on Tuesday, but the Tigers came away victorious, 3-0.
The loss snapped a six-game win streak for the Salthawks that saw them vault into the coveted top four in the 5A West Regional standings. The top four teams earn home-field advantage throughout reigonal play,.
The Salthawks are now 6-2 and will travel Thusday to Andover.
Softball – The Salthawks continued their trecherous schedule Tuesday, falling in both games of a doubleheader at Maize South, 16-1 and 13-0.
Hutchinson has not played a team with a losing record yet this season.
The Salthawks are now 1-11 and play again Thursday at Fun Valley against Wichita Heights.
Baseball – Hutchinson split a slugfest Tuesday at Maize South, falling 8-2 in the first game before winning 13-10 in the second.
Hutchinson is now 7-5 headed to a single game Thursday at Andover Central.
