The Hutchinson High girls basketball team was hung tight with Maize South for the first half Tuesday at the Salthawk Activity Center, but Maize South had a strong third quarter, and the Mavericks pulled away for a 58-35 win.
Hutchinson was down just 21-15 at half, but the Mavericks then outscored the Salthawks 24-11 in the pivotal third quarter.
Hutchinson is now 4-3, while Maize South is 7-2.
