Salthawk Boys Wrestlers Fare Well at Rugged Tournament

The Hutchinson High boys wrestling team, ranked No. 4 in Class 5A, competed well Friday and Saturday at the Dodge City Showdown.

The Salthawks finished sixth in the team standings with 152.5 points. The only teams finishing ahead of the Salthawks were Class 4A No. 3 Andale, Class 6A No. 2 Manhattan, 5A No. 5 Goddard, Class 3-2-1A No. 1 Hoxie, and 4A No. 2 Tonganoxie.

Jackson Anderson led the Salthawks with another dominant weekend, as the 190-pounder won his division, going 9-0. Four other Salthawks finished in the top five, including 126-pounder Cruz Cannon (6-2, fifth place), 164-pounder Karson Etienne (7-2, third place), 175-pounder Max Harris (7-2, third place), and 215-pounder James Hill (6-2, fourth place).

The Salthawks’ next tournament will be the Newton Tournament of Champions on Friday and Saturday in Newton.

Salthawk girls also compete in Dodge City

The Salthawks finished 13th in the 20-team field Saturday at Dodge City.

Ruby Foster led the Salthawks, as the 120-pounder went 3-2 and finished in seventh place.
