The Hutchinson High boys basketball team played a couple good opponents to open the 2025-2026 season Friday and Saturday at the Salthawk Activity Center, and despite having some good moments, the Salthawks dropped both games.

Hutchinson lost Saturday 57-53 to Andover Central, and 70-41 Friday to Bishop Carroll.

Lamar Govain had a big game against Andover Central, scoring a game-high 21 points. Draydon Hippen added 12 points.

The Salthawks struggled at the free-throw line, making just 11 of 25, while Andover Central hit 10 of 14.

The Salthawks will take their first road trip of the season Tuesday, going to Maize.
