KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kansas City Royals’ first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino was honored by Major League Baseball as the American League Player of the Week after his efforts in the series’ against St. Louis and the Chicago White Sox.
Pasquantino hit 13-26 (.500) combined in the six games between June 3-8, putting together four hits in the second game against the St. Louis Cardinals and three hits in game two vs. the Chicago White Sox. He also hit two home runs and drove home seven RBI during that stretch.
The fourth-year player out of Old Dominion enters June 10 with a nine-game hit streak dating back to May 30. After ending April with a .177 batting average on the season, he shined in May and the start of June to put his BA at .280.
Pasquantino is the first Royal of the 2025 season to be named the AL Player of the Week and is the first since July 20, 2024 when Bobby Witt Jr. won the weekly award. New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso won the weekly honor for the National League.
The Royals look to avenge their 2024 ALDS loss and a mid-April sweep, hosting the New York Yankees in a three-game series Tuesday, June 10 through Thursday, June 12 at Kauffman Stadium. First Pitch of all three games are at 6:40 p.m.
