GREAT BEND, Kan. ( – Barton volleyball’s Phoebe Reyes and women’s soccer player Nina Norshie have been named the Week 6 “Barton Sports Player of the Week” honorees.

Reyes led the Cougars to a pair of conference sweeps to stay atop the near mid-way point of the Jayhawk race. Hitting .333 on the week, the freshman outside hitter averaged 4.17 kills per set with just six errors in 57 swings. Helping Barton to its fourth straight sweep of a conference opponent, Reyes reached double figure kills in both matches in recording her 8th and 9th double-digit kill total in three-set matches.

Winners of five straight, Reyes and the Cougars stand at 6-1 in conference play and 16-3 overall heading into Wendesday’s battle for the top spot concluding the first swing around the conference slate at Hutchinson Community College (5-1, 14-7) in a 6:00 p.m. serve at the Sports Arena.

Norshie broke her three-game scoreless stretch to climb up the Barton all-time list with a six goal week leading 12th ranked Barton to a pair of road victories. Snapping the skid with two goals Wednesday in Garden City, Norshie continued her offensive aggression on Saturday in Liberal with a four-goal outing for her 10th time of exceeding three or more goals. The week moved Norshie from 4th to sole possession of 2nd all-time in Barton history with 52nd career goals while moving from 6th to 5th all-time with 113 career points.
