Reno County Sabres Beat Burlingame in Lightning-Shortened Game

The Reno County Sabres Homeschool football team improved to 7-0 with a 52-14 victory over Burlingame Friday night at Burlingame.

The halftime score was 44-14.

Reno County scored on its first drive of the second half and then the game was called because of lightning. The game was called with 10:25 left in the third quarter.

Reno County junior quarterback Bo Smith completed 10-of-17 passes for 97 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He also rushed for 117 yards on 11 carries with four TDs.

Junior wide receiver Jett Smith caught four passes for 53 yards and one TD.

Bo Smith has completed 80-of-109 passes for 1,298 yards, 28 TDs and one interception. He has rushed for 772 yards on 63 carries (12.3 yards per carry) with 19 TDs.

Freshman running back Rock Smith has carried the ball 30 times for 396 yards (13.2 yards per carry) with seven TDs. He also has 18 catches for 284 yards and 10 TDs. Freshman Colt Smith has 317 yards on 16 carries with 11 TDs.

Reno County will face Eureka (6-1) next Friday night in the Sabres’ second 11-man football game of the season. The Sabres will then transition back to 8-man to end their season at Johnson-Stanton County (5-1).
