The Trinity Catholic girls started well and finished strong Friday, but in between, Remington dominated and went on to a 52-31 win.
The Celtics had a bright start after a disappointing Tuesday loss at Ell-Saline. Playing a Remington team that came into the game 9-1, Trinity was tied 11-11 late in the first quarter, as Alyssa Guajardo tied a career-high nine points in the opening eight minutes.
Remington led 13-11 after one quarter, but then turned it on in the second quarter, outscoring the Celtics 18-2. Emily O’Brien had 12 points by half, on her way to a 15-point night.
Hannah Jenkins had a strong game with 17 points for Remington, including nine in the third quarter as the Broncos built a 45-17 lead.
Trinity finished well, outscoring Remington 14-7 in the final eight minutes.
Guajardo finished with nine points, while Brecken Dowsey had a season-best eight points. Seven different Celtics scored in the game.
Trinity falls to 0-10. The Celtics will head to Sterling on Tuesday to take on Southeast of Saline in the first round of the Sterling Invitational.
