The Hoisington boys basketball team defeated Victoria 56-41 Friday at the Hoisington Winter Jam basketball tournament and have a 2-1 record in tournament play.
Senior Mason Martin led the Hoisington boys (7-6) with 27 points and teammate Brody Pfannenstiel added 8 points.
Martin has scored 88 points in three games at the Hoisington Winter Jam. He scored 28 points in a loss Tuesday against Reno County and 33 Thursday in a win against Minneapolis.
Martin averages 20 points, 6 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1 assist per game.
Nick Sander scored 12 points for the Victoria Knights. Weston Scherrer and Kyle Huser each scored 10 points.
The Pratt girls defeated La Crosse 48-34 and the Ellinwood girls defeated Minneapolis 59-36.
Lakyn McAllister led Pratt with 13 points and Hope Hughes added 12. Morgan Madison scored 23 of La Crosse’s 34 points.
The Ellinwood girls placed three players double figures: Mette Maxwell scored 18 points, Brynn Widener added 12 points and Alyssa Batchman scored 10.
Bailee Randall-Hurt paced the Minneapolis Lion girls with 14 points. Riley Robinson tallied 9 points.
The basketball games scheduled for Saturday at the Winter Jam have been canceled.
The Hoisington Cardinal girls basketball team will hit the road Monday for a makeup game in Plainville.
The Hoisington boys and girls teams will be in action Tuesday at Phillipsburg.
The Cardinals’ January slate will conclude with a doubleheader Friday at Ell-Saline.
