Leavenworth, Kan. (BethanySwedes.com) – The Bethany College Swedes Men’s Basketball team traveled to Leavenworth, Kansas to take on the University of Saint Mary Spires in the Swedes’ final home game of the season.
4 different Swede starters would open up the game with a basket. Ty Eugene would score all 10 of his points early giving Bethany a 17-16 lead with 12:47 left in the first period. The Swedes would build their lead up to 7 points multiple times with the latest coming at the 11-minute mark of the period. Unfortunately, the Spires would pull ahead right before the break as the Swedes would trail 36-34 at half.
The second half was not very friendly to the Swedes as Bethany would only shoot 24% from the floor, compared to the 51% they shot in the first half. Saint Mary would outscore Bethany 37-21 in the period to take this one 73-55.
Ty Eugene, Noah Simiskey, and Kobe Samake Krajnc would each tie for the team-high in scoring with 10 points. Krajnc would also pull down 7 rebounds, while Eugene would nab 2 steals, both team-highs. Maurice Cudjo II would tally the lone block of the evening for Bethany.

The Swedes have one more game left this season as the get set to take on a respectable opponent in Southwestern College who are ranked No. 9 in the nation. Tipoff is set for Saturday, February 24th in Hahn Gymnasium as the Swedes will celebrate Senior Night between the completion of the women’s contest and warm ups for the men’s game.
