Pipeliners Late Rally Falls Short in Season Opener

McPHERSON, Kan. – The Kansas Collegiate Baseball League began Monday night for the McPherson Pipeliners, as they battled the Park City Rangers at Light Capital.

Cooper Lovelace of Newman University would get the start on the mound for McPherson, pitching three innings scoreless before running into trouble in the fourth. Four runs crossed the plate in the inning, two of which were unearned. 

The Pipeliners would collect a run in the bottom of the inning, but the Rangers responded with a run in the next three innings to take a 7-4 lead.

Chase Deloach led McPherson offensively with three hits and three RBI’s to go along with a couple of highlight plays at third. Max Marquez, Collin Pearson, and Cooper Smith also added RBI’s, and after collecting a run in the bottom of the 9th, the Pipeliners would fall 7-6.

The Pipeliners will travel to Goddard on Tuesday, to take on the Kansas Curve at 7:00 p.m.
