Central Christian Cougars Dominate South Barber with Big Wins for Both Girls and Boys Teams

The Hutchinson Central Christian girls, ranked No. 1 in Kansas Class 1A Division II routed South Barber 61-31 Friday night at the Central Christian gymnasium.

Hutchinson Central Christian senior Jessa Losew delivered a dominant performance Friday night, finishing with a double-double of 25 points and 16 rebounds.

Avery Kauffman scored 12 points on four 3-pointers. Harper Newcome tallied 12 points. Reese Swanson and Townsly Huff each contributed 4 points. Lily Lang scored 2 points.

The Cougars improved to 19-2 on the season and remain ranked No. 1 in Kansas Class 1A Division II.

The Cougars’ only losses have come against Little River (No. 1 in 1A Division I) and 2A Berean Academy.

The Hutchinson Central Christian Cougar boys defeated the Chieftains 54-40. The Cougars led 33-12 at halftime and held off the Chieftains in the second half.

Piercen Huff fired in six 3-pointers for the Cougars and finished with 20 points. Cal Barnett scored 16 of his 18 points in the first half. Luke Eigsti and Cael Kooiman each scored 7 points and Hunter Franz tallied 2.

Austin Swonger led the Chieftains with 11 points. Urijah Cruz and Isaac Angle each scored 9 points.

Central Christian hosts the Wichita Warriors on Tuesday and Pratt-Skyline next Friday.
