Nickerson High School’s Kristopher Monroe Jr. placed third in his weight class Saturday at the Newton Wrestling Tournament of Champions.
The Nickerson wrestling team also competed in the Clearwater Tournament on Saturday.
Liz Dick placed first in the 235-pound girls competition.
The Nickerson junior varsity wrestlers will host a meet at 2 p.m. Tuesday and the varsity boys and girls will host a meet at 1 p.m. Friday.

Nickerson powerlifters compete in first meet
The Nickerson High School Panther powerlifting team competed in its first meet of the season.
“Thanks to Goddard/Wichita East for hosting a great online meet with 468 kids from 30 schools,” said Nickerson coach Parker Bruce on the team’s Facebook page.
“We had 10 guys and three girls compete this morning. Congrats on the new PRs (personal records) and the growth you’ve seen. Keep working Panthers.”
