Nickerson High School senior Elizabeth “Liz” Dick placed second in the Kansas Class 4A girls state tournament at 235 pounds.
Dick was pinned in the 235-pound weight class title match to Baldwin’s Finnley Kellerman and finished the season with a 28-2 record. Kellerman posted a 34-3 record during her senior year.
Dick pinned her first opponent 24 seconds into the match.
Nickerson’s Brooklyn Schneider went 0-2 at the Kansas Class 4A girls state tournament. Her season ended in the consolation rounds. She lost a 3-2 decision in her first match. Nickerson sophomore Aiden Brinkley also went 0-2.
In the Kansas Class 3-2-1A state girls wrestling meet at Hays, Lyons senior Kennedy Grizzle placed third at 105 pounds and posted a 40-6 record.
Sterling sophomore Jacynn Boeken placed fourth at 3-2-1A 115 pounds and finished the season with a 38-7 record.
Sterling freshman Addison Morgan placed fourth at 3-2-1A 120 pounds and posted a 37-11 record.
Halstead’s Addi Thompson and Ashlee Ledford both lost their first two matches at the Class 4A girls state tournament in Salina.
