Nickerson Wrestler Kris Monroe Claims Third Straight Tournament Title

Nickerson High School sent its varsity wrestlers to the Emporia Winter Classic Saturday and the junior varsity wrestlers competed at the Rose Hill JV Tournament.

Kris Monroe placed first in the 165-pound weight class with a 3-0 record at the Emporia Tournament Saturday. He has placed first in three straight tournaments.

Four other Panther varsity wrestlers placed sixth at Emporia:  Evan Trostle went 2-3 at 132 pounds, Kobane Swift went 1-3 at 175 pounds, Riley Spurlock went 2-3 at 190 pounds and Conner Bower went 215 pounds.

The Nickerson wrestling team placed 10th with 69 points.

In the Rose Hill JV meet, Domanyc Giles and Kaidence Keeler went undefeated and finished first.

Sean Piland and Aiden White took placed third and Brady Engelland took fourth. Placing fifth were Thaddeus Preville, Owen Harris and Bentley Christner.
