The Nickerson High School varsity boys basketball team clipped Chapman 48-47 a non-league road game Tuesday at Chapman.
The Panther boys (4-11) led the Fighting Irish 25-16 at halftime and trailed 35-34 at the end of the third quarter.
Riley Brawner led the Nickerson boys with 20 points. Cam Welch scored 9 points and Austin Peterson added 7 points. Brecken Francis led the Fighting Irish (0-14) with 14 points. Dominic Krogman and Talon Decker each scored 10 points.
The Nickerson varsity girls (0-14) trailed at halftime 39-11 and lost to Chapman 59-20.
Centhiyan Bankston and Skylar Lamas led the Nickerson varsity girls with 5 points each.
Jai Rogers led the Irish girls (10-4) with 19 points. Adelynn Kirkpatrick scored 11 points and Josie Baer contributed 9.
Nickerson will host Andale next Tuesday (Feb. 3) and will play at Pratt on Feb. 6. Chapman hosts Abilene on Friday, plays at Clay Center Tuesday and plays at Valley Heights Feb. 6.
