Nickerson Panthers Fall to Wichita Trinity Academy

The Nickerson Panther football team dropped a 64-20 decision to Wichita Trinity Academy Thursday night at home.

It was Senior Night for the Nickerson Panthers. The game was moved to Thursday because inclement weather was forecast for Friday.

The Panther football team scored the first points of the game against Trinity Academy on a touchdown run by Ryan Morrell. The extra point kick was good. A 45-yard pass from quarterback Kristopher Monroe to Austin Peterson set up the TD.

Two quick scores put Wichita Trinity Academy ahead 16-7 with 5:16 left in the first quarter.

Morrell scored his second TD to cut the Wichita Trinity Academy lead to 16-14 at the end of the first quarter.

Wichita Trinity Academy scored the next 30 points to lead at halftime 46-14.

In the third quarter, Morrell scored Nickerson’s third TD and the PAT attempt failed. Nickerson trailed 46-20.

With 5:20 left in the third quarter, Wichita Trinity Academy answered with a TD drive. The PAT failed and WTA led 52-20. That was the score at the end of the third quarter.

WTA scored two TDs in the fourth quarter to make the final score 64-20.

WTA evened its record to 4-4. Nickerson dropped to 1-7.

Kansas state playoff first-round games in Classes 6A through 1A Divisions I and II plus Six-Man begin next Friday (Halloween night). Times and locations will be announced soon.
